About Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar yoga was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar in India over 65 years ago and has a rich and extensive lineage. It is based on sound principles of anatomy and physiology with a strong emphasis on the development of proper musculoskeletal alignment with props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and straps providing where required. Iyengar yoga enables not only the physiological systems to function at their best, but also promotes the union of the mind, body and spirit into one. It builds strength and endurance, increases flexibility, reduces stress and improves circulation, coordination, concentration and balance.
