Karen Whalen

Karen Whalen began practicing Iyengar Yoga relatively late in life. After discovering it at her local gym, she knew that was her path. As a youngster she practiced synchronized swimming, and later was an aerobics and step aerobics instructor. Fascinated by motion, she began deepening her studies of yoga at Yogarosa.

She completed the Svadyayah Workshop with Rosa Santana, and has studied with Eddy Marks and Mary Obendorfer. She attended the Iyengar Yoga Convention in Boca Raton.

Karen recognizes that Iyengar Yoga is a therapeutic art that requires mental and physical discipline. It is this discipline that results in a connection between the mind and body, and leads to a feeling of well being that may ultimately result in a spiritual connection. Karen relishes the opportunity to share this experience through her teaching, to help other seniors realize their own possibilities.
